UCLA is seeking a senior researcher in geriatric mental health
UCLA Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences seeks a Geriatric Psychiatrist mid to senior level researcher with a focus on Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias. Successful applicants will have a competitive record of extramural funding and a research program that addresses key questions in modern aging and memory research. A record of excellence in translating research findings into clinical practice is desired. A track record of mentorship of junior faculty and young investigators who are developing research careers is another important qualification. Candidates should qualify for faculty appointment at the Associate or Professor level, such that they are eligible for tenure, an FTE, and dedicated endowed chair (Muriel Harris Chair in Geriatric Psychiatry). The qualified candidate will be considered for the Muriel Harris Chair position in Geriatric Psychiatry. The clinician-scientist will have the potential to contribute to the Research Education core for an Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at UCLA. Knowledge and experience in community engagement and aging are also eligible for Directorship of the Longevity Center of the Semel Institute and Psychiatry Department Board. Certifications in Geriatric and/or General Psychiatry, or licensure in clinical geriatric psychology, are preferred. This appointment will receive start-up funds through a collaboration with the Departments of Geriatric Medicine and Neurology. Multidisciplinary research initiatives are strongly encouraged.
