Postdoctoral fellowship in geriatric mental health & suicide prevention at the University of Rochester Medical Center:

Postdoctoral fellowship in geriatric mental health & suicide prevention at the University of Rochester Medical Center: Supported by a T32 postdoctoral fellowship in suicide prevention, the fellow will work with Dr. Kim Van Orden in the HOPE Lab to study behavioral interventions to reduce social isolation and loneliness. Ongoing projects for fellow involvement include: a clinical trial testing mechanisms whereby Engage Coaching for Caregivers reduces loneliness and caregiving distress among ADRD caregivers (funded by the Rochester Roybal Center for Social Ties & Aging Research); a clinical trial with lonely older adults in senior living communities testing a coaching intervention with daily smartphone-based assessments; meta-analysis of behavioral interventions for social isolation and loneliness to improve brain health. Opportunities for conducting secondary analyses with existing data are available (and encouraged), as well as clinical opportunities to support licensure (psychologists). Additional opportunities include study of ADRD caregivers who are primary Spanish speakers and patients at risk for suicide who are Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing. Applications are rolling (but apply ASAP) with a start date in summer 2023.
